Over the last couple of years I’ve been working in the construction trade. Great pay, most fellow employees are open and ok with my presence. Although I do feel like I need to prove myself daily.

Recently like within the last month I took a new position with a new company. And am the only female on this crew. My boss is a sexist jerk, basically allowing his friends to do as they please including sleeping on the job. Me however, I am in trouble for anything and everything. He yells at me in front of other employees, and is degrading. He basically very sternly told me he is my boss I will do as he says and that’s final. My opinion doesn’t matter. Even though minus 1, I’ve got more experience then all the staff including my boss.

This is obviously going to be short term. Unfortunately. Because I do like my job I just dislike my coworkers.

It’s to the point now where half the staff will literally ignore me and walk away while I’m talking to them. These few that do this are related to my boss or are good friends of his.

I feel like this is middle school again, it goes on. My boss had his dab pen fall out of his pocket in front of other co workers one day, he always wreaks of pot. He is on average 30 min late if he shows at all. He doesn’t know anything about the trade, how to bid, how to do the work nothing…

This is a drug free work place.. except for him.

I’m just tired of going to work and being ignored, like I don’t know what I’m doing or talking about… so now I show up don’t say shit and laugh when they’re trying to figure shit out.

So guess I’m still searching for a better fit.

Any other ladies have this issue ?

Update; so last week the inevitable happened and I was let go, surprise surprise! However I do have a few prospects. I think I’m going to stay away from the construction trade, at least for a lil while. Because I really do love that line of work
